Our most frequently asked questions.
Q: Do you take on projects outside the Hawke’s Bay area?
A: In order to remain cost competitive, we work only in the Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne regions.
Q: Does Wynands Masonry guarantee their work?
A: Yes, with producer statements and warranties.
Q: How many projects have Wynands Masonry helped build?
A: Over 1,000 residential homes, and most of the notable commercial developments in Hawkes Bay including Craggy Range Winery, Black Barn Vineyards, Elephant Hill Estate Winery, and The Farm at Cape Kidnappers Luxury Lodge.
Q: Can I receive a cost estimate over the phone?
A: Not always. The most important part of a price quotation is a complete review of an accurate set of plans with a possible site inspection. This allows us to assess the work so that we can give you the best options for your circumstance.
Q: What is your payment policy?
A: Payment Terms are the 20th of the month following.
Q: I’m planning a new build — what can I expect from Wynands Masonry?
A: We offer a total package service — including on-site assistance and complete backup after the work is done.
Q: I have a weatherboard home — can I modernise the façade?
A: Claddings such as weatherboard, fibre cement sheeting, brick or concrete block can all be refurbished using Rockcote’s premium exterior plaster cladding system. As many older residences also have low internal wall insulation, you can add external insulation by utilising one of Rockcote’s Exterior Insulation systems — which not only provides insulation but also a modern, low maintenance, durable render.
Q: Can I pre-colour my plaster render?
A: In most cases, yes. Rockcote Systems pre-coloured texture styles are 100% acrylic and can be tinted to your selected colour. Cement-based texture styles are applied grey (uncoloured) and then painted upon completion.
Q: What about maintaining my Rockcote exterior?
A: Rockcote Systems has produced a complete maintenance guide — this package is designed to advise you of your obligations as the owner not only for the long term performance and look of your Rockcote exterior cladding, but to comply with the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code. To assist you, we undertake a complete on-site check two years after your Rockcote exterior cladding is completed. The check will be carried out by a Rockcote Project Assessor, who will check over the entire Rockcote exterior cladding system. Some of the things they will be looking for include adequate ground clearances, signs of settling or movement, exterior fixture installation, scupper outlets from decks or roofs and adequate sealing of penetrations through the cladding etc.
